Terms of Service & Community Rules

By registering an account on Somnium, you agree to these terms and our community rules. If you do not agree, please do not use this site. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time, continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of any changes.

Somnium is an 18+ site. You must be at least 18 years old to register an account, and to use any part of the site. This applies whether or not you turn on mature content, it is not a setting, it is who the site is for.

By checking the age confirmation box during registration, you confirm you are 18 or older. Somnium cannot independently verify ages, responsibility for truthful confirmation rests with the user.

If you believe a member is under 18, report them. Reports go to admins only and the person reported is never told who reported them. We would much rather read a report that turns out to be nothing. Accounts found to belong to minors are removed.

• Any sexual content involving minors (characters under 18). This is a zero-tolerance rule with no exceptions.
• Content that sexualizes real, identifiable people without their consent.
• Content that promotes, glorifies, or facilitates real-world violence, self-harm, or suicide.
• Hate speech targeting any person or group based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or national origin.
• Harassment, doxxing, or targeted threats toward other members.
• Spam, phishing, or malicious links.

NSFW content (adult themes, sexual content between adult characters) is permitted in NSFW-flagged threads for members who have opted in. Every member is 18+, so this toggle is a preference about what you want to read, not an age gate.

• Be respectful. Treat other members with basic courtesy, even when you disagree.
• Separate IC from OOC. What happens in a roleplay thread is fiction. Don't take in-character actions personally.
• Communicate. If you need to step away from a thread, let your writing partner know. Ghost-dropping threads is discouraged.
• Tag your content. Mark threads as NSFW if they contain adult themes. Use the private toggle if you don't want your thread publicly visible.
• Respect boundaries. If another member asks you to stop contacting them, stop.

You retain ownership of any creative writing you post on Somnium. By posting, you grant Somnium a non-exclusive license to display your content on the site. We do not claim ownership of your writing or characters.

You are responsible for any content you post. Somnium is not liable for user-generated content.

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban any account that violates these rules, at our sole discretion. Serious violations (prohibited content, harassment, threats) will result in immediate permanent bans without warning.

Somnium is a fan-run creative writing community. We are not a commercial platform. The site is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We are not responsible for data loss, service interruptions, or any damages arising from use of the site.
